Login Now

Getting Started

If you do not already have an account, you may create one by going to the Register For An Account page and entering your email address and creating a password.

After you have created an account, you can log in by looking for the Login button at the top right corner of every page of NAP.edu. If you are logged in, the links in the upper right corner will display Logout and MyNAP. Click MyNAP to go to your personal account features.

Important: an account will only exist for your email address if you have specifically created an account in the past. Being a subscriber to the email newsletter or having ordered online before does not automatically create an account.

Using MyNAP

Home

The MyNAP home page will show you the three most recent books that you downloaded, purchased, added, or bookmarked and the date on which that action was taken. Additionally, you can see five books recommended for you based on your past actions on NAP.edu.

Account Management

At the top of the links on the left of every MyNAP section, you can navigate back to the home screen or choose one of two other options: Edit My Account, which allows you to change the email address that you use to log in to MyNAP, and Change Password, which lets you do exactly that: change the password you use to log in.

Saving and Bookmarking Books

You must be logged in to MyNAP to save books and bookmarks to your Bookshelf.

To save a book when you are on a book's catalog page, look for the "Add to Bookshelf" button on the right side of the page, just below "Read Online" button. The "Add to Bookshelf" button will only show when you're logged in, so if you don't see, click "Login" at the top of the page.

To save a book when you are on a book's OpenBook page (that is, when you are reading the book online), look directly to the left of the page that you are reading. You will see the Table of Contents, book cover, and three buttons. Click the lowest button, "Add," to save the book to your Bookshelf.

To create a bookmark when you are on a book's OpenBook page, look on the right side of the toolbar. Next to the Print icon is a Bookmark icon. After you click "Bookmark," you will have the option to save a personal note along with each bookmark. You can add or edit notes for bookmarks by clicking MyNAP at the top of any page when you are logged in, clicking the My Bookshelf tab and then clicking "View Bookmarked."

Recommendations

The Recomendations section in MyNAP gives recommendations on other books you may be interested in based on your personal history of purchasing, saving, downloading and bookmarking.

Help with MyNAP

NAP requires that all users identify themselves with an email address before downloading our free PDFS. This can either be done by logging in to MyNAP or logging in as a guest.

Logging In to MyNAP

To log in, click "Login" in the upper right hand corner of any page of the NAP.edu website. If you are already logged in, the link will read "Logout."

Creating a MyNAP Account

Having a MyNAP account not only allows you to to stay logged in to download PDFs, but also gives you the benefits of MyNAP.

There are two ways to create an account:

  1. Go to nap.edu/register
  2. Click "Login" in the upper right hand corner of any page, and then click "I don't have an account" in the bottom right corner of the login prompt.

Logging In as a Guest

If you prefer not to create a MyNAP account, you may still browse the site and download free PDFs after providing your email address. However, you will not be able to save bookmarks, add books for later, or see your download history unless you have a MyNAP account.

To log in as a guest, click "Download as Guest" or "Browse as Guest" on the login screen.

Troubleshooting

Why am I told "No account found with this address" when I try to reset my password?

It cannot find an account in the database with that email address. Note that it is possible to be subscribed to the NAP newsletter or to have made a purchase with an email address without having a MyNAP account.

To fix this, register for a new MyNAP account and then login with that new account.

If you are still experiencing difficulty or are sure that you have a MyNAP account with that address, contact the Customer Service Department.

I don't see the Save To Bookshelf or Bookmark This Page links.

You must be logged in to MyNAP to see those links. Click "Login" at the top right of the page.

How do I delete my MyNAP account?

If you no longer wish to have your MyNAP account active and have your download, purchase, and bookmark history available to you, you must write to customer service and specifically request that your MyNAP account be deleted.

There are two very important points to note before you make this request:

  1. Your entire account--login username and password, bookmarks, download history, and purchased books--is irretrievable after deletion. If you choose to create another MyNAP account, you will need to start over again. You will need to create another account in order to stay logged in to download PDFs.
  2. Your MyNAP account is entirely separate from your email subscriptions. If you would like to stop receiving emails from NAP, you must unsubscribe separately. Refer to this article to unsubscribe from NAP emails.
