Additional research could lead to a better understanding of the data and resources needed to support innovative approaches for adaptive housing, services, and supports so that people living with dementia can remain in their communities. To explore these needs and develop effective strategies for the future, the Committee on Population and Board on Behavioral, Cognitive, and Sensory Sciences of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine convened a virtual workshop on aging in place with dementia on September 13-15, 2023. Sponsored by the National Institute on Aging, this workshop highlighted the state of knowledge and identified research gaps to inform conceptual approaches to guide research on dementia-friendly communities in the U.S. context, building on existing approaches in the field. %0 Book %A Transportation Research Board %A National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine %E Van Horn, Laurel %E Lipp, Eric %E O'Reilly, Katherine %E Pound, Pat %E Vange, Jens %E Wirth, Shane %E Shevrin, Jason %E Cole, Shu %T Innovative Solutions to Facilitate Accessibility for Airport Travelers with Disabilities %D 2020 %U https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/25728/innovative-solutions-to-facilitate-accessibility-for-airport-travelers-with-disabilities %> https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/25728/innovative-solutions-to-facilitate-accessibility-for-airport-travelers-with-disabilities %I The National Academies Press %C Washington, DC %G English %K Transportation and Infrastructure %P 206 %X The airport industry has adopted specific design codes in response to state and federal regulatory requirements—including the Americans with Disabilities Act—to accommodate employees and travelers with disabilities. These design codes include general architectural guidelines and technology adapted for transportation facilities. The TRB Airport Cooperative Research Program's ACRP Research Report 210: Innovative Solutions to Facilitate Accessibility for Airport Travelers with Disabilities outlines innovative solutions to facilitate accessibility for passengers with a variety of physical, sensory, and/or cognitive challenges. The report includes additional materials, including case-study highlights in Appendix A, a user-needs survey in Appendix B, and a Wayfinding Accessibility Audit Checklist, which also includes a separate introduction. %0 Book %A Transportation Research Board %A National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine %T Quantifying the Impacts of Corridor Management %D 2024 %U https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/27477/quantifying-the-impacts-of-corridor-management %> https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/27477/quantifying-the-impacts-of-corridor-management %I The National Academies Press %C Washington, DC %G English %K Transportation and Infrastructure %P 510 %X Transportation corridors are defined by the infrastructure, services, and relationships connecting places. A corridor can be a national resource connecting large cities, a regional passage connecting a state’s trade centers, or local pathways connecting through a city or town. NCHRP Web-Only Document 386: Quantifying the Impacts of Corridor Management, from TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program, details how specific corridor management efforts should be defined and approached, what it means to manage a corridor, and how to manage different types of corridors for intended impacts. Supplemental to the report are an Executive Summary, an Implementation Plan, 5 Spreadsheet Tools (Appendix 3, Appendix 5, Appendix 7, Appendix 9 Tool, and Appendix 10 Tool), and 2 videos (Introduction to the Playbook 1 and Introduction to the Playbook 2).
